Today, at the invitation Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova (CCI of the Republic of Moldova), Association for Waste Recovery and the Environment Agency continue the dialogue on the dimension of efficient waste management and direct management of electrical and electronic equipment waste. An increased focus was given to WEEE producers and their extended responsibility (REP), good practices and management solutions for this waste, the legislative framework regarding EEE, the obligations of producers and distributors, but also the sanctions they face can receive in case of non-compliance with the legislation in force.
The topic of today's discussion is also dedicated to International E-Waste Day 2020, date marked on October 14, 2020 in Moldova and in 50 other countries around the world. During the online dialogue, the participants shared important information primarily for manufacturers, but also for other interested persons, regarding the practical aspects of this subject, such as: the definition of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), their categories, the situation at day and current trends.
International WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Day is an initiative of "WEEE FORUM”, an international non-profit association of collective organizations of electrical and electronic equipment manufacturers, and represents an opportunity to draw the attention of consumers to the importance of selective collection of used appliances, with the aim of increasing their reuse, recovery and recycling. This year Republic of Moldova officially joined the 3rd edition of the campaign promoted by Weee Forum along with 112 other organizations from 48 countries.
