The European Commission adopts new measures to restrict intentionally added microplastics.

The European Commission takes a major new decision to protect the environment by adopting measures to restrict microplastics intentionally added to products under the EU's REACH legislation on chemicals. The new rules will prevent the release into the environment of approximately half a million tons of microplastics.
